Ruger security 9 or smith sd9 2.0?
Hammer fired vs striker, pin takedown vs Glock style, and reliability on each?
What do you guys think? Just want a spare 9mm range toy/truck gun

Handle a CZ P-01 and see how it fits your hand.

Yep. There are plenty of versions of the 365 to satisfy about every small 9mm need.
Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

The Ruger Security 9 is a pretty decent gun from what I have been told by a few people I know who have bought them. They are not super high volume shooters. One guy buys a lot of middle of the road, to lesser expensive guns and I remember him saying he liked his and a .380 version that I think was his wife's or for his wife.
Ruger has a good reputation for customer service, and most their autos seem to run pretty well, so I would likely lean towards the Ruger.

High volume meaning they aren't comfortable or that they will wear out

High volume meaning they aren't comfortable or that they will wear out I think he meant that those people don't do a lot of shooting.

Just happen to like how they fit my hand Don't think you would go wrong with either for your intended purpose. Have you tried the trigger on each? Is there a big difference in price of extra mags if you intend to buy some? Those are some other things to consider beyond any price differential.

Why not both? I'm toting a Ruger kp345 (because it's God's caliber!) But I had a S&W 9ve with an Apex trigger that shot well.
Bangflop! another skinning job due to .260 and proper shot placement.

High volume meaning they aren't comfortable or that they will wear out High volume meaning that they are not the type of people to put 10k or 50K through an individual handgun.

I'll start by saying that I offer this as an enthusiast rather than and expert. Steelhead, did you read that disclaimer?
I have a Security 380 that feels great, functions flawlessly and is pleasantly accurate. Reading around the WWW and watching Youtube. The Security series pistols are pretty highly regarded.

How it feels is the first test to pass when selecting a handgun. i tell people to close their eyes and go with the 'feel" of gun. Then move on to other things about it.

That's what I saw too. Got my Ruger security 9 and will be shooting it some at the range as soon as I have time.

Tristar T 120, a better finished, more accurate CZ 75. They also make steel frame full size guns.
