I don't know if it is OK to ask about the value of a rifle I have but here goes. I have a Ruger 10/22 Magnum wooden stocked rifle, brand new in the box. I have had it over 20 years and even bought a spare magazine for it. All I want to know is what it is worth .Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Research on gun broker. It’s a 10/22. There’s lots of them out there.

No idea, but I think the magnums were recalled. Probably has some additional collector value and might be worth your while to sell it rather than risk damaging it by shooting it.

They stopped making them for a few reasons:

1. Low sales
2. Platform was known for breaking when used with 22WMR ammo
3. Reliability issues
4. More expensive to manufacture
5. And most importantly: They feared guys were going to rebarrel them to 17HMR. The gas system is not right on the 10/22 to support that cartridge: The 17HMR requires a "delayed blow back system to operate safely", so some were having catastrophic failures. They know a lot of guys are too stupid to heed the warning, about doing this, so they discontinued the magnum altogether, to minimize potential lawsuits.

They are up there in value. Check rimfire central. Lot of good info there.

Don’t see many around here but the ones at the gun shows between $1000.00 to $1200.00

NIB is key. $1,500 to a collector would not surprise me. $1,200 for a quick sale. Used guns without the box are bringing over $1,000.

The 22 mag 10/22 is a fairly rare bird. They do have some jamming issues. Had one once and sold it about ten years ago for $800. If truly NIB with all paperwork it’s at least $100, and could be up to $1500 as mentioned above. But I have been amazed at what some Ruger collectors are willing to pay for things.

That Ruger Rifle is indeed rare AND rather valuable compared to its original cost.
I think its value is pushing $1,500.00 - maybe a hair more?
The ones I have seen sold were nowhere near the condition you report yours and they were in years past and sold for $1,000.00 to $1,200.00 (a couple had lesser valued scopes on them).

Yep. They are very pricy. Take it to Tulsa in April if you can. You may be shocked what it'll bring NIB!!! Good luck!!!

FWIW, I haven't seen one sell for less than $1,000.

Mine will be going on the market soon and I expect it to sell for around $1,250 due to the original barrel, stock and trigger along with a Ruger BX trigger, Green Mountain stainless fluted barrel and Boyd's stock.

Rolltide: Last year my friend and I were sharing several tables at the Post Falls, Idaho gunshow and a fellow table holder there had an as new in the box Ruger 10/22 Magnum for sale. As I recall he was asking $1,200.00 for it and during that weekend show it sold but we were not privy to its actual selling price.
