We spent the afternoon at a friends ranch. He has some property with a private pond out back that is stocked year round with catfish, bass , perch, ...the works!! we were using a little three and a half foot Disney princess rod to catch perch. Rigged the line with small pieces of cut up hot dog weiners for bait. Low and behold my daughter got more than she begged for. This was her first catfish. I am one proud father.

Very nice
Congratulations to the young lady.
When I was that age, my only fishing gear was
a cane pole and line and a bobber. Same for
some years afterward. Still use a couple of the
modern telescopic fiberglass jobs occasionally
and a 2 piece bamboo from wallyworld.

Is this the same kiddo that's getting the hunting
rifle eventually ?

Ranger 99, you have a great memory. If you are referring to the custom 243 Sako, yes it is her rifle. It has been finished for quite sometime. Here is the link where you can read up on it:

Very nice
Very generous gesture.
The only bad (?) thing about a young person
having premium gear, or taking an exceptional
high quality head of game or a fish is that the
bar is already set extra high as they grow older.
I grew up using cane poles to fish with, and
older used firearms to hunt with so "stepping up "
was easy for me. Though I still use my "junky"
outdoor gear and manage to be successful grin

I'm happy to be outside and see what I see
and do the things I do

Great job, I miss those days with my boys!

Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.

The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.

Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.
