The only problem is our insane policy vis a vis birthright citizenship. That's suicidal. It's not in the Constitution, either, as some stupidly assert.
To produce a citizen of the US by birth requires that one be "subject to the jurisdiction" of the United States, which disqualifies illegal aliens, since they are 1) subject to the jurisdiction of a foreign country (the one of which they are rightfully citizens), and 2) their presence in our country is in defiance of United States jurisdiction.
But, because of our insane policy of recognizing the birthright citizenship of the offspring of aliens illegally present here, once they are here and drop a baby, that's it.

If things ever go south politically in this country, they would fill a void that would give .gov a run for their money.

Just like Walmart and Amazon America created a market, they recognized and filled it. Now they have found a market that they can fill using existing assets. That’s just good American capitalism at work. The War On Drugs created the cartels. The demand for drugs created the war on drugs

Mexico is the supplier meeting our demand. No demand, no cartels. Or other organizations. Except if drug running went away the existing organizations will expand their side businesses. I heard a Sunday School lesson that started with, "What would you say is the most immoral law we ever passed?" "ABORTION!!!" "Not in my opinion. I think it was prohibition." He went on to explain that prohibition created the illegal demand for alcohol that brought us the Mob, as we know it. Along with other good points that don't matter here.

Can't do much about demand. Government getting out of the business of regulating what adults freely choose to put in their bodies, though, is something that can easily be accomplished, which would pull the rug right out from under the drug cartels.
Anyone commits a crime while drugged, throw them in prison.
