I really like Burris FFIV 2.5-10x42 Illuminated scopes and have them on 3 different rifles. You can usually find them under $200 and they are very clear with a forgiving eye box. The only compromise IMO is the reticle just isn't as nice as a firedot and they don't have a shake awake feature so you have to turn the illumination on/off each day but a battery will last a full season. There's nothing wrong with this, it's just not as convenient as a Leopold. I also have a FFIV 3-12 and I'd have to say that it's just not as clear as the 2.5-10.
