Supposedly a tad shorter so easier to stabilize in a true 12 twist 204.

OK......in my early 20 cal days....

Meaning 20 Vartarg...20 Practical...204R....all 12 twist/3 groove Pac Nor's

40 V Max was and still is my primary bullet

My current 20-222 is a 9 twist...original chamber was a 20BR for 55's

Appreciate the welcome! I definitely hold into the wind a lot more over on the east side!

From what I’ve heard the 39bk’s are the magic sauce. I’ve got some vmax to try as well.

Gunsmith just finished a couple .20’s so should be shooting next week:)

I used to just shoot the 39 gr bk with RL10. I started shooting H4895 and berger 35 gr hp. Sold my 10 boxes of 39 gr bk. Bought 10 boxes 35 gr berger hp. I have a 110 twist. I like the berger 40 gr hp too. Berger used to make a 20 cal 30 gr hp. I came across 3 boxes of them. And bought them.

The berger 40 is good as well as the 39 gr. both just do a better job of killing coyotes. The 37. gr. plastic tips suck at it.

Never heard of a 37 grain bullet but the 35 Berger’s and 40 grain Berger’s do a great job on coyotes. The plastic tipped 40’s from Nosler and Hornady are the real coyote killers.

I was not impressed with the 39 grain Sierra. Too light of a jacket.

37 gr., probably a typo...

I always preferred the Bergers, both 35 and 40 gr. The 40's seemed to penetrate a little too much, as in the 35's wouldn't exit but the 40's would on occasion.

Yeah= 32 gr. too light for coyotes. 40's was nice when you could find them. Use a 40 gr. ballistic tip in 20x47 Lapua it will cut a coyote in half at times. Tried some 45 soft points that work ok for now.

TA 17 Rem: NONE of the Coyotes I have shot with the 32 grain Sierra Blitz Kings "lived" to tell about it!
I switched all my 204 Rugers (I now have 11 of them!) over to the 32 grain Sierra Blitz Kings. The reason I switched over to the 32 grainers from the wonderful and very slightly more accurate (in several of my guns) 35 grain Bergers was, availability. Back a few years the 35 grain Bergers were just simply unobtainium. So I bought a good supply of the 32 grain Sierras which shoot nearly as accurately and at the time were much easier to obtain.
And this.... just today I saw a new cartridge offering from Sierra - these loaded bullets are called "Prairie Enemy" - and in the 204 Ruger they are offered with a 36 (thirty six!) grain Blitz King bullet. They are VERY pricey though at $37.00 per 20!
I hope Sierra will make that 36 grain bullet available for us handloaders soon. I checked their website today and only the 32 and 39 grain Bilitz Kings are available in their 20 caliber Blitz King line.
Long live the 204 Ruger.

$37 per 20? They using gold instead of copper on them?

I was an early adopter of the 204 and had a bad run with the 32 grain Hornady’s and 39 Sierras. The 40’s wouldn’t shoot in my first 3 guns but my Kimber Montana just loves them and while the 32 might not be a bad bullet, the 40 just kills so much better I see no reason to use anything else on coyotes.

TRnCO: That was my thought exactly - to tell the truth I began using Sierra bullets 60 (sixty!) years ago and have been a pretty dedicated user of their bullets ever since then.
Last couple of years though something has gone askew with the supply of Sierra reloading bullets!
I don't know what but where Sierra bullets used to swamp the shelves with every offering now I seldom see more than a handful of offerings from Sierra on gunstore shelves?
My Varmint and big game Hunting friends rage over the lack of Sierra offerings - several have had to switch to other bullet making companies.
Asking right at $2.00 per bullet by Sierra for the diminutive 204 Ruger cartridges is just ludicrous in my opinion.
Each gunshop and sporting goods store I visit I always look for bullets by Sierra I could use and for at least two years I have NOT bought a box of Sierras because I have not seen them!
Let alone I would NOT buy a $37.00 box of 20 cartridges by Sierra.

Been using the 32 gr Vmax or the Varmageddon in my two 204s. With H335 it’s a cloverleaf proposition. No point in spending too much on the Sierra bullets with those results. I bought about 4k of them some years ago and then found a screamer of a sale on loaded Hornady ammo and bought two cases so I’m set up for a while

Never could get fond of the 39gr. Sierra, but I do shoot a 37gr. It's not a plastic tip. The first 37gr. hp I used were offered by CRT (Custom Reloading Tools) and are excellent on Coyotes. I was able to talk Blaine, Black Hole Bullets into making 37gr. hp 20 caliber bullets since CRT is now out of business of offering bullets.

BlitzKING, not Blitz. Two different animals; no “Blitz” in 39 grain, FWIW.
