I inherited this rifle from my brother who bought it when he was living in AK and I don't know if I really want to sell it but I know I will probably never shoot it. Someone heard I had it and wanted to know if I was willing to sell it. I have been trying to figure out what it is worth. These are the specs.

Ruger M77 458 lott purchased 20 years ago
Custom kevlar stock - He had to send the rifle to the stock maker to have it made. He paid $800 for it. I have the original stock as well.
Muzzle break
Leupold euro 30 1.25-4x20
Also have 130 pieces of 458 lott brass and one box of hornady 500 gr fmj bullets

The person offered me $2500 for the whole lot. Seems a bit low. I think the rifle without any of the upgrades is worth about $2500 just based on a quick search. I have seen them go for a whole lot more but not sure why. Any idea what the value of the rifle is?

I have bought and sold thousands of guns only a hand full of Ruger 77 458 Lotts....theres a small market for big bore rifles that will be hunted and even smaller that will just sit in the rack and maybe shot a couple of times.....
In todays market demand is pretty low right now....the fiberglass stock would command a better price sold separately you're still not going to get even close to $800 for it....scope, brass and ammo would do better sold separately....
One thing with out pictures that would lower the value is the muzzle brake....its not factory and actually takes value away form the rifle....

Bottom line do you have the factory box I would sell the scope separate after the gun is sold the bullets and brass....not to many people would even want Hornady 500 gr. FMJ bullets unless they were real cheep....

I have that rifle with a Pacmeyer recoil pad, Nikon 1.75x5 Monarch scope, dies, brass, bullets and some ammo that I advertised for 2k. Never got a serious offer. Value will depend on the individual wanting the gun I believe.

Bubba, I'd take that offer. If it was an RSM model with quarter rib, barrel band and express sights, it might be worth it if someone could find an original RSM stock.

It is that model and I have the original stock. I am not desperate to sell. The person who made the offer knows what I have and wants all of it including the brass. I would sell everything except the stock and the scope for what he is offering but he wants the stock. I don't expect $800 for the stock but I bet I could get at least $350 maybe $400 and probably another $250 for the scope.

Biebs,

Gun Parts Co. (AKA Numrich Arms) has stocks for 2 of the 3 RSM variants in stock. I’ve bought 2 stocks from them. IIRC they were about $250 NIB each.

BubbaG,

The muzzle brake is an unfortunate aftermarket addition which won’t enhance the value. One of my 416 Rigby RSMs had a muzzle brake installed when I bought it. When I had it rebored to 0.458” and throated to turn it into a 450 Rigby Rimless, I had the threaded muzzle for the brake cut off.

IME it’s unnecessary in an appropriate weight RSM.

2500$ is really fair. It could fetch far more if it was original.
I would want over 4K for mine but it's been bedded by one of the best BB guys alive.
