If you could get a #1 in any chambering that is not currently made, what might it be? You can pick anything you want, but try to select something that might actually have enough interest to get a run of 250 made.
I'll start with my choice:
.338-06 in a 1-S.
I know there was a similiar thread a while ago but it kind of got off topic. I'd like this info as I may pursue this and I'd like to know what kind of interest is out there.
A golf course is a sad misuse of a perfectly good rifle range.

Too many to chosoe from.
I guess first on my list would be .300 H&H
I'd go for them in .35 Whelen too; and a few other chamberings also. Remember folks "try to select something that might actually have enough interest to get a run of 250 made." is a key part to this. Those wierd chamberings would never make it.

How about a 1-A in a .308? Or 1-A in a 7x57 stainless and walnut. It would look great next to my .257 Roberts.

#1S or 1B in .338-06
Second choice would be a #1B 280AI

Well, it all depends on the model. I may as well go on down the line...
#1RSI - 300 Savage #1A - .308 Winchester #1B - 35 Whelen or 338/06 #1 Tropical SS w/laminated stock - .338 Win. Mag. #1A w/Stainless metal and walnut stock (ala Lipseys) - .280 Rem.
If I missed a model it's because I either don't care to own that particular model or it's already chambered for what I would like to see. If this is truly a wish list, I may as well add the 45/70. I know they chamber this already, but I would want one in the semi-stout 24" barrel of their #1 Tropical, not the lighter 22" barrel they currently produce. And, how about something in between the 1A and 1B. The forearm of the 1B is a little bulky for me, and even though the 1A's forearm is sleek and easy to hold, I think it would look better with a little longer barrel. So, I would say either slim down that #1B, or stick 24" barrels on the 1A.
Ok...here's the all-arounder: Walnut stock; Alexander Henry forend; stanless action and 24" stainless barrel; .280 Remington. My 2 cents.

My "dream rifle"... a #1 RSI in a rimmed .280 Remington with double-set triggers. (Yeah, I "know"... "Dream on", eh?) Strength & Honor... Ron T.
It's smart to hang around old guys 'cause they know lotsa stuff...
