Has anyone used Lee's new .266 140g flat nose rifle mold? It looks like it'd be a good one to put a check on and use in my 6.5 grendels. One of my ARs is a bit on.rhe undergassed side so I don't know if a moderate cast load would cycle but my howa mini bolt gun would probably like them. The flat nose is pretty small but with the right alloy it'd probably expand a bit on deer. A grendel seems like the right case to push it at cast speeds. I'd think a powder coated bhn around 15 with a check at 2000fps or so might be worth a try on deer.

I also like the looks of their new tc fn 9mm 147g. I'd like a 6 cavity in that. Their 175g tc fn .401 has been good for me.

Worth a try. I would hedge my bets and soften the alloy a bit more, especially since you're powder coating you should be able to manage 2000fps easily. Don't get too wrapped up in fancy alloys unless you have a lot of crap to use up. By keeping things simple you can come back to it at a later date with a better chance of replicating your efforts.

I'm with gnoahhh on a softer alloy. I like the standard wheel weights and pure 50/50 with enough tin added to make it a balanced alloy. I do believe the Grendel would be a good cartridge for it but because of the faster twist don't be surprised if you can't reach 2,000 fps. Tom at Accuratemolds.com can cut you a mold to your liking and your specs to a degree. You can get that wider meplat. I have tried many Lee molds because they are on the cheaper side but my serious molds are from Tom.
Good Luck to you!

I’ve got their 6 cavity 124. I’ll have at least a 2 cavity 147.
I have delusions of grandeur about length-wising a pig up at the lease with my 365……🤣
