At Fort Sill's only stop light, I liked to salute officers making a left turn with a cigarette.

Navy Chief here. I gave some consideration to trying for a Warrant Officer billet but decided I'd rather be associated with the CPO Mess than the wardroom. The Chief's Mess runs the Navy, officers just fill out the paperwork. Some may not understand that but every Navy Chief will.

Yes, sir! We had lots of Black Horse guys rotating out of RVN, and then back again. After the re-flagging post Vietnam, there were quite a few with Black Horse patches on both shoulders. I was at Downs Barracks 1969-1971.

Pretty sad what happened to Downs.. spent a bunch of money on upgrades and new construction, then turned it over to the Germans when the Regiment left. I was there when the wall came down (Surprise!!) and we shut down OP Alpha. I PCS'd to 1st ID just in time for DS1. Fulda was/is a really neat area, went back for a visit a couple years ago while working some UKR stuff in Wiesbadden.

For each of you who served, I hope the memories are all good ones and your friendships have endured.
