Cabela's has these priced down to $75.00. Anyone here have any good or bad experience with them? I've always used Shimanos but if the Lew's is a good reel this seems like a good price.

You need to be checking out what your local.pawnshops have right now. Last week I did a pawnshop run and found a lightly used Lews level wind on an old glass rod priced at $10. Bought it for 7. Some people pay that for what passes as coffee at Starfocks. Mb

I like Lew's reels. I think the LFS is a "best buy" at regular price of $100. At $75 it's a bargain IMO.

Thanks to all for the info. Went ahead and got it. It's a simple set up with only one set of brakes to adjust. I put some 12lb Berkley XL on it which is what I've got on my Shimano 200 K and tried them both with the same lure and same rod. After I got the Lew's brake set right it casts as far and as easily as the 200 K which cost more than twice as much. Granted I don't know how long the Lew's will last compared to the 200K and the 200K feels like it would handle heavier baits better. I've always liked Shimanos best but the Lew's seems to be a great value and a very good reel.
