A buddy just inherited an old Remington 721 in 300 H&H with a kollmorgan scope and Stith mounts. The mount was spring loaded in the middle with all adjustments being on the exterior of the scope.

I have an old weaver v8 with the external adjustments on the rear ring. But I’d never seen this kinda setup before. Kinda neat.

Were they a common thing? Whole setup dates to the 50’s.

Yes, the Stith Master Mount was quite common for fixed reticle, externally adjusted scopes in the 1950’s.

Kollmorgen scopes have 26mm tubes and there were few mounting options, since the B&Ls were only 1".
