At 2:53, notice the guy welding. No goggles or mask, just closing his eyes. He'll go blind in a hurry doing that.
You would think, but welding with naked eyes was common over there by shade tree mechanics. Note the guy welding ain’t a teenager and he’s likely been doing that for years. I dunno how that is possible. They could perform prodigies keeping old junk running.
Of all those “aircraft” only the helicopter and the guys using the ramp appeared to be actual attempts at flying. The helicopter weren’t bad at all for a home built first attempt IMHO.
At the other end of the spectrum, I periodically drove a LandRover for a vaccination team staffed by capable African medical personnel from a Doctor on down and I taught some really bright kids in my three years over there. So my perspective differs from many.
