Just the black synthetic, not fiberglass. Checkering or dots and panels? If it’s the former, it sounds like you ended up with a late classic stainless.

Picked up a set of Redding dies on eBay at a good price. Brass is around, but not cheap. I will watch. Scope, as always is the next big expense. Excited about it, though.

For whatever reason many (if not all) the WSM’s weren’t stamped classic stainless.

Just the black synthetic, not fiberglass. slope, you did very well. Even though it is a 7 digit, it is still a classic. I hope its a great rifle. Check to be sure the scope rings are in good alignment, and they are in line with the axis of the bore. Some were shifted a little bit. That can be corrected in the mounts. I had one that was off just a miniscule amount. Luckily it was easy to fix the mounts. The rifle shot very well, and like you I got it for a damn good deal. $500 on gunbroker. I was the only one that bid on it. It was chambered in 7WSM. Keep us posted on the rifle, but it sounds like you did damn well!!! Side note: Those tupperware stocks are not bad. The ergos suite me just fine. I generally just keep them, but add a little paint and texturing, glass bedding and a pachmayr decelerator recoil pad. I've done many that way. Congrats!!
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Going to make mine a 450 Marlin Might want to look into the brass situation first.... Okie John
If Montana had a standing army, a 270 Win with Federal Blue Box 130's would be the standard issue.
