I have a 2007, 5.9 Cummins with 201k, the turbo is making some weird noises, so its looking like its time to either rebuild it, or swap out with an upgraded, drop in turbo.

Any reccomendations?

I would consider an ATS Aurora 3000 if the truck is stock. Should be a drop in and it should also spool a little quicker than the stock one on your truck. I'm assuming your truck is stock. It should be an upgrade even with a stock truck.

The truck has a tuner on it but other than that it is stock. Not looking to get crazy, but a little bit extra while not having to change the head bolts or anything like that would not be a bad thing.

I think it would work well in your case. It should broaden the powerband and it shouldn't be crazy at all with your tuner. Now if you had replaced the injectors and went with a 4,000 or stepped turbo then I would definitely consider head bolts.

The biggest mistake i see made with turbo swaps is going to big. The performance house will happily sell you one that works for general empty running around but a horrible option if you tow. Your truck has the HE 351. Very easy to rebuild. One of the popular options is to second generation swap your exhaust manifold and go with a set geometry turbo. Just did a swap last weekend for a friend. Used a 3 piece manifold and a old Shied diesel lightning street/strip turbo. S300 based so need an adapter to mount exhaust or a new down pipe. Spools like a rocket and is miles of smiles.
