Have a pair of SH 4-16's, pair of EPL 6-24's, pair of EPL 4-16's, Pair of LH 4-16's. And one of their NV scopes. I like ALL of these.......

Here's a pic of an LH 4-16 on a 17 hummer from yesterday....

I recently picked up the LH-4 6-24x50. It's mounted on an AR-10 in a 20-moa base. To me it seems like a good value for the money. I cannot really complain about anything so far.

I've better than 20 of 'em now, including the NV with LRF and the 1-8x. Hint.

My $2000 Reupold MK5 HD and $1000 Reupold MK 4 HD,couldn't even BEGIN to keep mechanical pace with ANY Barkin' Arken. I favor the 4-16's and have all versions in Mil/Mil. Hint.

Rings/mounts are killer too. Hint.

Just sayin'..............

Put a NIB Reupold MK4 HD 2.5-10x Mil/Mil FFP on a 1-8" Teeker 223,yesterday,that does nice things with Lapooey,400's,Lever' and 75 ELD Smooches(CTR mags). Hint.

[Linked Image from imagizer.imageshack.com]
[Linked Image from imagizer.imageshack.com]

It went from that,to these 3-shot "groups",with same Lot of ammo, with the Reupold. Hint.

[Linked Image from imagizer.imageshack.com]
[Linked Image from imagizer.imageshack.com]

Plenty of rice in Reupold, but no meat. Hint.

[Linked Image from imagizer.imageshack.com]

In fairness, the Reupold was fhuqking dismal at 50yds on my Bart' barreled Vudoo. First (3) shots, after an erector dump and return to it's zero stop,in piss flat weather. Hint.

So, made in China and works is worse than made in American and doesn't work?

Help me understand.

big stick uses leupolds as lapping bars, for lapping rings. but I am curious why if he thinks the scopes sucks that they would even be suitable even as lapping bars.

I rather like the LH '16x Mil/Mil in VPR. Hint.

I'm unaware of a Barkin' Arken 1-10,but have their 1-8x LPVO and it's sound. Front and center here. Hint.

I's pretty hard to completely eliminate made in China products, but I try not to purchase the more costly items that are made there. That includes scopes.

I simply NEED Riggin' that works. Is it GREAT news to me,that my $1000 and $2000 Reupolds are absolute pieces of fhuqking schit? Nope. Though when stepping back and looking at it ALL,it sure as fhuqk is funny in comparison,to a $250 Barkin' Arken. Hint.

If someone will please post a pic of an American made scope that has decent glass, illumination, FFP, tracks accurately, and returns to zero every time. And is available at the same price point as an Arken or an Athlon I would love to know about it. I sure would like to buy one.

Hell, I wish I could have the same option with my phone, computer, microwave, and lots of other things. I would love to buy American made. Somewhere along the way things went terribly wrong. But that's a whole nother story.

Barkin' Arken simply fixates, that which matters, while folks like Reupold do NOT. Hint.

Was shooting rather modest Jap Glass to 1300yds,earlier today, upon a freshly assembled rifle. It did what my Reupold MK4 HD and MK5 HD's couldn't and made it look easy, simply because it was/is. Hint.

Have 3 SH4s on various rifles. Recently put a LH4 4-16 mil/milon a RARimfire. Agree the 4-16s are useful throughout the magnification range. Can use the 6-24s all the way at 24 at the range, but doesn't add much going past 20x.

LH4 mechanics and glass equal to the heavier SH4s. Which surprised me a bit. Stays zeroed.

VHR is a little fine at 4x for my cataract surgery-needing eyes, especially when we drive into poorly lit barns toward evening to kill pigeons. But the lit reticle completely solves that issue.

I have a safe full of Leupolds but if I were looking for "a scope that has decent glass, illumination, FFP, tracks accurately" I'd be looking at optics from Japan.

I have spent some time on this web site, snipers hide, and a few others looking for info on an affordable scope that functions well. As I mentioned earlier, It needs to have decent glass, track well, return to zero, have illumination, preferably 30mm, FFP.

No matter where I look I keep reading try the Pacific rim countries and Japan. I would rather not buy a scope made in china.

I know this is an Arken thread. But what are some other options available?

Apples to apples comparison please.

I already own Trijicon credo's, Leupold VX5 HD and VH6 HD's, Vortex, Had a couple of Zeiss scopes, I have owned many more.

I would really like to get nightforce. But I have been retired for some time now. Fixed income sucks when buying toys.

So again, I will reiterate, apples to apples comparison please. Including the affordable price point.

My last Leupold scope had to be returned for repair twice. THEN, it was sold. I have looked at SWFA. Quite frankly I do not want to spend a lot of $$$ on a scope I will use infrequently. Can I afford an expensive scope? Yes! Can I justify an expensive scope? NO! The Arken line has been suggested by a very experienced handgun shooter/hunter. This is the reason of my initial posted question regarding the Arken line.
BTW, I have many older Leupold USA manufactured scope. The older ones still perform well. The newer ones I have little confidence. Also own a few Burris scopes that perform well. But, inquiring about Arken. It is NOT my intent to start a quarrel. Merely looking for information. MTG

My Trijicon scope "luck" isn't great. I'm lukewarm at BEST on my Trijicon Credo HX 1-8x. Everything but the internals, are superb. Waiting on a GrandBaby to get dropped off and will try to get warm/fuzzy in said scope's regard, before it gets yanked to ride the pine. 338 Twat-Six formed Lapooey,230 ELD Smooches at 2600fps. Hint.

My Reupold MK4 and MK5 HD's are total fhuqking garbage. Hint.

Vortex has never made anything worth a fhuqk. Hint.

I'm thinking I'll grab a Zeiss LRP S3 425-50,if only for the 46.5 Mil erector, for LR Rimfire Pursuits. Hint.

NightFarce has long had a grip on guts, but struggled with reticles, especially FFP. I suffer a few and am in love with their NX8 1-8x with FFP DM-X reticle,as it's fhuqking amazing. The 2.5-10x is close to great, but fhuqking SFP Mil-R. Thinking about tossing a NX8 2.5-20x F1 Mil-XT on a Montucky Six Twat-Six. I hate their fhuqking push button bullschit illumination "control" and MUCH prefer a rheostat ala 1-8x. Hint.

It's actually fairly fhuqking amazing, how many Manufacturers botch optics and how squarely Barkin' Arken NAILS same. Hint.

Just sayin'...............

Trijicon - Stick, any ACOG time? Thoughts there? Pervasiveness in the .mil has me thinking "gtg" but never know. Kinda thinking one on a SHTF AR type thing.

Interesting how well a 308 BDC jives AR driven 75 Hornie HPBT's. Great platform to hand guests and simply say "connect dots",so they can blow their own minds. Hint.

5yr GrandBaby was cool with checking Red Dots and it's a nice arrangement. Hint.
