Iv not had much luck the last few years, in bagging a Tom. I owned a HR 10 gage, killed some birds with it but it was heavy and Kicked. Used a 12 gage and a 16. Even a 12 muzzleloading rig. But carrying the 12 gage the 1/4 mile to my spot, I'm thinking about a 410 or a 28 gage could always use it for squirrels, in the fall . Also like to try the TSS Kolaid with the new gun! Figure I have all summer to play with it. What say the fire 410 or 28 gage?

28 more versatile. Both will kill a turkey. Probably easier at this point to find ammo for the 28.

About the same here on finding the ammo, I think 410 shot is more $$$ than the 28. Iv owned a half dozen. 410 but never a 28

I’d love to build a 28ga turkey gun. It’s a huge step up from the 410

Have several high dollar 12ga guns that were only used for spring gobbler, Greenlief, tree bark, sure shot 3.5" ect. All have become safe queens 13 years ago, when I started loading tss for the 20ga. The 20 is nice and light. Currently have them in the super x3 long beard, Weatherby sa459 and a Mossberg sa tactical turkey. Love me some 20ga.

the 28ga is very impressive with TSS #9 or 9.5's. Its light weight, low recoil, and will stone a bird at 40yds.

Got a Stevens 301 20 gauge few years back, and TSS #9 handloads will put 294 in 10" circle, and 216 in the 20"....with the stock choke. Killed lot of birds with it and all I use now. Only weighs 6 lbs.

I was impressed with my first 20 gauge TSS kill. I think my buddy was too when he made comment about buying a franchi 20 gauge after watching me. I didnt tell him it was TSS.
He just got into turkey hunting and has private lands so he hasn't researched better than lead options.
Other than that, How was the show Mrs. Lincoln?

There's lots of 28 gauge ammo on the shelves where I am. Still very little .410 ammo, but it's getting a little better. I killed my first bird with a .410 and #9 TSS in January. At about 25 yards. It worked perfectly.

The 410 and 28 is "cute" and effective with TSS and all, but I like a bit more leeway and versatility. Never owned a 410 and got out of 28s due to cost and liked the 20 better. I'll use a 20 occasionally, but my main turkey guns are 12s. I bought shorter barrels for them and added a red dot, then I can attached the longer barrels for fall chasing other stuff.

just downgraded to a 20 from a 3.5 12, a pleasure to carry and shoot even with heavy TSS loads

I’m contemplating an Encore 410 pistol and will use tungsten ammo if I do.

20ga is where I would land. I like my 410 but 20s just do it better and ammo is easier to find.
Think i need a bigger gun

They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.
