Just fired some 25-45 Sharps loads assembled with aa2200 powder listed on Sharps web site. First loads were 24gr of aa2200 with Speer 87gr SP. accurate 1/2"groups, Vel. was only 2575fps avg. There max of 25gr. also accurate, but vel. was 2675fps avg. much slower than the 2970fps they post on their site. I went up to 25.3gr went up to 2725fps still slow. Suprise was same powder, but with 100gr. Sierra SP flat base 23.5gr of aa2200 vel. was 2565fps avg. also accurate. all loads W-W 223brass and win. #41 primers no singes of pressure rounded primer edges. All loads 2.260 COL all fed well. Going to increase to increase the load to 23.8-24.1gr for the 100gr Sierra will keep you posted. PS barrel is 20" sharps LW SS. Anyone trying a different powder with higher Vel. ?

Personally, I don't think you'll hit 2970 with 87s and a 20", but what do I know? I don't shoot one.
You've probably seen this, but here it is anyway: https://ultimatereloader.com/2016/10/14/25-45-sharps-ar-15-part-3-first-loads/

Let us know how it goes. There ain't a deer standing that wouldn't fall to what you are getting out of it. 2800 with an 87gr isn't anything to sneeze at.

I'd buy a box of their ammo and see how it compares velocity wise as to what it should get for your barrel length.

I use xterminator for 87 Speer hot core at 2800. I have shot 3 deer with it. Two mule deer and one whitetail. One mule deer went 20 feet and the other deer dropped where they were at.

I am using an 18" barrel.

28.5 got me 2800 but I actually load most of my rounds at 28 even.
