I’ve been thinking about getting a small Jon boat 16 foot.Check the price on the manufacturers website when I call a dealer the price will be thousands of dollars more than the list price 50% plus more.!!
I commented that here that it was going to happen, utility trailers prices skyrocketed 3+ years ago. Quite a few places have 2022 trailers sitting faded on their Lots. These business people who think they can keep marking things up because material & labor costs ++ are feeling it now.
I was in business for many years- when the economy slows -- news flash >>>you have to lower your prices ! ! !
PRESIDENT TRUMP 2024/2028 !!!!!!!!!!
Posted by Bristoe The people wringing their hands over Trump's rhetoric don't know what time it is in America.
I've got a 22 foot fiberglass pontoon boat- - - - -gave $1500 for it and the owner threw in a 16 foot runabout for free! Both of them with 80 HP Johnson 2 stroke outboards.
Well, that's an extreme Pontoon, but most in that category would be Tri-toons. The fastest out of Cinci used to be a Tri with a 540 Chevy, but that's ben a decade or 2.
But as far as sticker shock,,,,, boats might be runaway in price as bad or worse than most toys. Just crazy. Like everything these days I guess.
A 725t, reckon that’s 7ft wide and 25ft long with twin engines? Hard to tell from the pic. 169000…. Anyone pays that for that deserves to be royaly phuged.
I torn on pulling the trigger on a $600 4 stroke air cooled outboard motor on Amazon.
Pretty slick little setup - no oil/gas mixing, its air cooled so no impeller nonsense and it has a gas tank on it (albeit not much larger than a gas tank on a leaf blower).
but its rated at 9hp.
That's the kind of boating financial decisions I'm dealing with
have you paid your dues, can you moan the blues, can you bend them guitar strings
Been running my 18 foot Jon boat with 90 hsp 2-stroke Yamaha 22 years now. The boat owes me nothing. Buddy in the business told me I could get what I paid for it if I wanted to sell it. (Of course 2024 vs 2002 dollars means half the value.) In any case I would never sell it.
Never had any interest in pontoon boats. To me, they’re not boats, they’re barges. I can see the attraction they hold for people who are not really into boats, but want to get out on the water.
My best Friend has a Bennington Tri-toon with twin 250's on it and that thing RIPS! He had it outfitted with "Sealegs" so at the push of a button the legs drop down and lift the pontoon out of the water. I am sure I could get 10 Russian Mail Order Brides for what he paid for it but it works for him.

Portable fishing dock and party barge.
You want to see scary boat prices, check out the 24/26 foot twin or triple LS inboard jet river boats. High grade aluminum sheet is expensive.
I am glad that we were able to find a couple older single drive units.
People who choose to brew up their own storms bitch loudest about the rain.
Prices on large Bennington’s and Harris’ could stun a mastodon! Living here on the lake I do a bit of buying and reselling of boats. By the time the fourth year of ownership lots of boats are “for sale.” Good opportunity if your marine savvy.
Spent the last couple days installing camo Sea-Dek in my 14-foot, 1985 Valco flat-bottom.

They are going to do so soon.

I know a lot of pro bass guys that get a new boat each year, most get them at a good discount and run them for ONE season and flip em but with these interest rates I’m now seeing A TON of guys either running the boat for a second year or just flat out stuck with them….. A cash buyer could get a helluva deal on a 1-2 year old boat right now.
I have a 21’ model and I almost bought a 23’ model that was 12 months old but only had about 30 hours on it. The guy needed an emergency shoulder repair so the boat sat most of the year. His deal with the dealer or manf. stipulated that he run a new model every year and already had another brand new 24’ model boat in his garage. He had it priced at about 60% of new with a full lifetime warranty on the hull and a 10 year on the motor and it still took him almost 6 months to find a buyer.
Boats are crazy priced these days. I hear some are financing from 12-20 years.
I talked to someone the other day, people are financing swimming pools for 20 years....crazy. If you need to finance a pool for 20 years, you don't need it.

I don’t know that deck but I put a Nexan aluminum deck in a boat over winter. Wow. Lightweight and great looking and has serious longevity. Keep the good old hulls on the water.

A woman's heart is the hardest rock the Almighty has put on this earth and I can find no sign on it.
It amazes me what folks will spend on a boat/camper that the only use a few times per year.
It amazes me how little they get used after the first year. It's not unusual to see campers sit in the same place next to the garage for YEARS without moving around here.
They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.
One guy up near Chetek, WI., just paid about $145,000 for his new pontoon - and it has two 300hp outboards on the back... And this is on a rather small lake of about 7 miles.. Crazy, IYAM.

Interesting thread. My brother and I fished Lake Texoma for 4 days last week. Got a guide for one day. Fishing from shore was tough. Very rocky and steep in places. From the boat it was much easier. Considered a boat purchase for a bit. Want something small enough for this rookie to handle, but with enough power to get off the lake quickly too. Probably won't get anything until winter when people don't want the storage expense.

I saw a BMF or HCM that was over $500k. But at least you get something for $500k, a kick ax boat that you can fish, hunt, ski, and play out of. I have a 21x78 jetboat with a 6.0 and a 212. It’s worth today what it was custom ordered for in 2002.
I have had the same boat since 2004, I have taken great care of it, depreciated it out in four years.. It actually belonged to my company. I used it for R&D. I closed the business seven years ago. The boat title transfered to me, at that point. I believe it's worth the same as I paid for it today. Of course dollars are worth 30% less than 2004.

Mine is a 1988 Almar, 19 feet by 72 inches w/ a 302 Ford and a Kodiac pump. I got it for 12K three years ago and have put a few dollars into upholstery and a Huminbird.
It gets me and Momma and four G kids onto the lake or river.
The Son in Law picked up a 24 foot by 96 inch Weldcraft with a brand new 460 and 212. It is heavy, takes a triple axle trailer. It does not run on the water any different than that new one for $120K plus.

Must be super heavy. Most 24-26’ boats are running tandems. I’ve seen very few that actually required a triple axle trailer. Mines a 2002 Boice, it’s actually 8-8” across the top, and technically illegal going down the road. My next boat will probably be a FireFish or an Edge if they start building jets again.
