Y’all have a few years on me and more in the trade I’m sure.
That being said I also shunned press technology for quite some time, preferring soldered joints “just because it was better”

I work in the same type of environment you do/did Hanco where every valve is 50 years old, corroded, and doesn’t work. As you well know a trickle prevents a clean solder and when a press fitting prevents an entire campus shutdown because of a failed angle stop..we’ll press starts to warrant a closer look

If you look around any commercial jobs including commercial hvac, boiler installs etc..(big jobs big money) you’ll notice they are all going to press..

Anyway, I’m a convert and hate to admit it..but technology soldiers on. Press has saved so much time and so many disasters…and there’s no reason to believe it won’t last

Tug guys and a couple of our employees mention having to tie off our tows so the tug could go help out/rescue other vessels though.

But, it was always a fun ride on days like this. For those with no idea, this is not the ocean, and the front of the barges is +/- 400' from where I was in the wheelhouse taking the pictures. The front windsock is visible up there in the spray. It wasn't even a really bad day. I don't think the spray reached the wheelhouse windows.



And other fun things happened like steel bollards popping off and going whizzing by too close for comfort when the wires were tightened.



I'm sure if I hadn't retired and stayed working a few more years we'd have had more adventures
