They keep talking about Social Security is going broke. How come you never hear anything about Welfare and the like of going broke? We have paid our whole life into Social Security, if they would keep their hands out of the till, we would be fine. The whole establishment is screwed up royal. All the politicians are to blame for the position we are in. Biden keeps throwing our money to any third world [bleep] hole there is with no regard. Screw Biden and the whole establishment.

Debt payments are not breaking the bank, because they can't.

Because they have to *borrow* money for there to *be* money.

The Federal Reserve doesn't just create money and hand it out, it's loaned out. Hence we have a "debt-based" fiat currency system.

Because of that, inflation can never be zero in the long run and you can't save money and expect to have money later - your savings has to be placed in a risky investment or else inflation eats it up.

It's called busting out. The mob does it to businesses, and the banksters do it to nations.

If they stopped paying SS to those who never paid all would be well.
But try this! Stop paying SS to everyone who not being a US citizen AND being lawfully in the US. Thousands of non citizens over seas draw SS they paid into while working in the US.

we are in the Weimar Republic phase of the socialist game. We will continue to print money until we can't, until then expect high inflation for the long haul.

We’re going to default. There is no question. We should do it now.

Awhile back Wal-Mart built a little Neighborhood Market in a small town close to me. It was open for a week when the owner of a local grocery store that had been there for fifty years close up shop. He was interviewed in the paper and said that he saw no reason to make himself destitute trying to keep up with Wal-Mart and decided to close up immediately.

We should do the same and default right now before we are in complete societal collapse. It’s bad enough as it is, but if we run the string out for another twenty years and then do it? Man it will be way worse.

The national debt will never be paid down. At some point in the future (probably the near future) the burden becomes so much the Fed will simply reset the clock. Presto, no more national debt. Then we can go grocery shopping with wheelbarrows full of cash to purchase a loaf of bread and presto, we become North Venezuela.

I understand that default and bankruptcy by the country with the world's reserve currency isn't quite like a corporation or even a lesser country (say Zimbabwe), but we are on the way to default and our dollar being shunned worldwide. What gives then? It seems to me there would be a catastrophe if the foreign held dollars were ditched by the nations and criminals of the world.

At some point the arithmetic catches up. And it could be sudden. Imagine the social upheaval.

My late neighbor was a smart guy. He traveled most of the world. He explained that in the U.S. we have the most wealth even though we have a national debt. He said when you drive down our roads you see nice homes , farm equipment , boats, motor homes, roads, etc, etc. Marvin said you won’t see that in most countries. We have great physical wealth ! Numbers can always be manipulated to suite the beneficiary . The U.S. is still a good place to be in. YMMV!

I'm all for societal collapse.. Now, as opposed to later.

I disagree. If a person paid into the system, he would be due the promised payments no matter where he currently chooses to reside.
