I'm looking for a Marlin chambered in 475 Linebaugh. Does anyone have any experience with this? Also posted in Big Bore Lever forum.

Marlin never made one and in the current 1895 design never will.
Some marketing types announced them before the engineers and/or lawyers squashed the idea.
The problem is the published pressures for the .475 Linebaugh run much higher than Marlin is willing to admit the 1895 can handle. Frankly, I'm going to go with the Marlin engineers on this one. SAAMI pressure seems to be 48,000PSI but some data I've seen runs as high as 55,000PSI and maybe higher. You won't find me running anything that hot through my 1895 as I want to keep my fingers, eyes and handsome good looks.

Yeah, why companies put guns in their catalogs that will never see the light of day is beyond me. Why the hell would you catalog something that hasn't been proven in the prototype stage? I wanted one in a bad way and my Marlin rep kept telling me they were working the bugs out. You'd think that would have been done before cataloging it. Finally he told me the project was deep sixed. The Winchester 94 .480 Ruger never got out of the womb either and it was cataloged. Remember the Ruger XGI of the '80s?

.
I think the gun makers put new gun in the catalogs just to keep the buyers interest. Another reason may be to test the market, if they get enough interest they may actually produce something.

I'm as guilty as the next guy, of wanting the newest and best, but have finally come around to the older cartridges. The 38-55 and 45-70 are the "cats whiskers" for me! (also the 32-20) Virgil B.

Its really a shame too I load the 480 Ruger for my son It is a nice round.
It would make both of us very happy to get a 480 R in a nice levergun But alas it is not to be.

Look at Legacy Arms/Rossi MDL 92, available in .480 Ruger. I have one and I like it.pak

Thanks... I have tried to find one in Houston... no luck. Maybe I can get someone to order one for me.
