.22 Ruger single 6.

I killed a wolf caught in a foothold trap a couple years ago with the back of an axe. I distracted him first with a 2" thick poplar pole, which he bit in half. Twice. I'd use a .22 next time for sure!

I have a ruger bear cat it used to be my dads. My mom saved her money when they first came out. she said it took a year. my dad was in the navy then only bringing home close to 50 bucks a month. So the little revolver means a lot to me.I am by no means a serious trapper but I plan to do some more of it.

Sitka, why do yu carry an unloaded pistol? I also carry a MarkI but it is always loaded with one in the chamber and the safty on. When I am trapping up around yellowstone in griz country I carry my SKS.

I use a $160 heritage rough rider, that came with the mag cylinder. Its a great little fun gun, and if it gets beat up a bit, no big deal. You can get those just about anywhere.

Mr grandpa taught me to trap in the late '50's using a wooden box with a nail in it. Bait was a piece of glass. Lots of raccoons went south that way. He normally used an axe but sometimes (with a big boar) would blast the 'coons with his Colt Woodsman. I still treasure that Woodsman today.

I carry a Tarus stainless .22.

please elaborate on the "wooden box with a nail...piece of glass for bait" as I am confused and very curious.
