Curmudgeon was generous enough to send me a sample of 7mm bullets I could try for my 7x57 Mauser (excellent quality bullets!)<P>I managed to stuff one through my brl and when it popped out it measured .2880 and .2800 for lands and grooves. I am going to order a top punch for my Lyman 450 sizer/luber and was wondering what sizing die I should get. What would you start with and who has it?

Whatever you are willing to put up with, is exactly what you will have.

When your ship comes in. ... make sure you are willing to unload it.

PAYPAL, sucks and I will never use them again. I recommend you do the same.

If I read your measurements right I'd go .289. It works to be a little big;but not a little small. Maybe Midway?

Blammer, There are several options for belling the mouth of the case. RCBS expander die or Lyman M die, and probably others. You can even use a .30 cal. or larger spitzer bullet tapped into the neck with a little plastic hammer. You want to expand the neck barely enough to prevent shaving, and not enough to open the neck enough to keep it from entering the seating die. I have never found a crimp to be necessary, unless I intended to use a tubular magazine, the less you mess with cast bullets the better. Hope this helps, curmudgeon
