First, do you know what ANWR is?

ANWR = Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

The Dems apparently need a refresher! grin

Now, a comparison:

Saw a political cartoon that had a cow (maybe a horse?) with the caption 'Alaska'.....with a flea jumping near the azzend and an arrow pointing to it captioned 'ANWR'.

Yep. Just pump the oil out of ANWR and all our energy problems will be solved, right? It's all so simple that it makes me just a wee bit skeptical.

There is no instant or simple solution to our energy dilemma but Anwr could buy us some time. If we have learned one thing through all this, it is that we need to improve current technologies and work on new energy solutions.

If the price should drop tomorrow, let us not forget the need to find and develop new energy solutions.....If we do forget, we deserve the negative side of not doing anything!

Doesn't NEED to solve all our issues, simply needs to reduce the amount of oil we buy from places that belong to OPEC.

teal,

Spot on! It's a part of the solution. And it's HERE. It's vital for reasons of security and the economy. And for psychological reasons too. If we go at this thing with a WWII attitude it can done quicker than many think. And the Dems. don't want the public to know it. Too bad for them though. The public is getting tired of all the enviormentalist crap.

Right on!!!! We should drill in every square inch that can produce oil in this country and build refiners to refine it, instead of buying oil and refinering our gas from other countries. It doesn't mean we will be independent of other countries but a heck of a lot less dependent. We are not running out of oil we will never run out of oil as the earth keeps making more. Vist any quality natural history museum to find out how this is done. That's beauty of this spaceship we are!!!!

Speaking of American oil; where is all the oil from the old Alaskan pipeline going these days?

Japan and Asia from what I understand.

For two reasons: 1. Most effecient transportation, 2. It's heavy oil and they have the refiners to refine it we don't have but their oil comes to us.

That's the way oil works or should work if we allowed free markets to work. Oil goes where it is cost effective to ship and use.

Good old American effort can get us some relief, and create more jobs as well. Would the rest of the world gripe if we kept our oil here, heck yeah, and I'd love to see that in my time. I'm sick of slavery.

American refineries can create jobs. What's wrong with that?

I wonder how many American citizens - total numbers- would be able to live out the rest of their lives with all their transportation, heating, and other petroleum related needs supplied by ANWR. I bet the numbers would be an eye-opener.

While it makes more sense to send it to Asia since it is both closer and they are better set up to deal with the type of oil coming off the slope, Alaska did the PC thing a number of years back at some loss of revenue in order to keep the "ravens" happy. I imagine California gets a lot of it - I could be wrong.
