I've been looking at the Leupold Mark 4 2.5-8X36 MR/T illuminated and was kind of curious if anybody has any thoughts about them. I'm in need of a scope in about that power range. for a 20" AR. I like the size and adj. turrets. The size looks about right for the AR platform too. The illumination would seem to be a plus as I plan on doing a little early evening varmint hunting with it. I've never used an illuminated reticle before though.

The rifle is extremely accurate and worthy of good optics. The price tag for the scope has got me in a hold pattern right now.

What do the experts say?

Thanks,
Terry

It's a nice scope but I get along just fine with the regular VXIII series scopes. Never needed illumination but I do like the turrets just don't see much need for them until past 300 yards.

You can get a VXIII 2.5-8 for $399 and save a whole lot of money...
