I only read your post and have not looked at any replies yet.

My first gut feeling is you have some problems and issues with your wife that you need to get settled quick. Were it me, ( and it isn't so take this for what it's worth ) I would get that in order before I started monkeying around with the money.

If you are seriously considering a divorce, I would start stashing some money away (cash) and cut your IRA and 401k contributions down to the bare minimums. I know here in Wis. the wife gets 50% of everything (except stashed cash she doesn't know about). Otherwise, I would imagine she would have a pretty good chance of getting a good chunk of your retirement savings.

Regarding: "I would start stashing some money away (cash)."

An undisclosed stash of cash = perjury = felony in Oregon.

Yeah, that is probably correct. So don't take any of your guns to your friends house either so the ex can't get her hands on them. Trust in the court system to give you fair and equitable treatment. I know I have alot of friends who are just happy with the settlements they have received!

IF I am not mistaken, you can't roll over an ira into a 401k. It has something to do with employee sponsored. If she doesn't beleive this, she can call me. I will talk her down. Again, I am not 100% sure, but a good 90%.
