I have that cartoon packed away somewhere, I like to bust a gut the first time I saw it. Showed it to the wife when she asked me why I carried a .45ACP.

Hey, I remember that cartoon too! It was a well dressed elderly chap with a double barreled rifle on a city street. I beleive the wife said "I never chide you about carrying that elephant gun again." or something similar to that.

I can hardly believe the fact that others here have read and remember that cartoon. Yeah, it was a double rifle....... Seems to me this Gahan Wilson had a really dark sense of humor, similar to Gary Larson's "Far Side".

I've finally got brass and bullets coming for this rifle. Should be here today or Monday. Now if the weather would just ease up a little. Supposed to be rain/snow mix here for two days.. Typical March weather in WI...

Cast your own and you can get away from those flat points. I've got a 500gr. round nose mold and a 535gr. Postell. Mainly shoot the 535gr., it's a semi-pointed bullet that shoots real well in my rifle. Some of the cast bullet companies offer them I see, you could try a 50 count and see how you like them. Would be a whole lot cheaper shooting than those Barnes solids. My ole Sharps has never had a jacketed bullet ran through it, often wondered about trying those 500gr. Barnes though. My leads free though. Sure want to hear how your new rifle shoots.
