I put this here on a separate thread because I'm not going to give a "blueprint" for this rifle unless someone PMs me for it but this rifle started out as a left handed .223 Charles Daly Mini-Mauser which I wish a I had a picture of for the contrast. This little Yugoslavian Mauser was about as pretty as a pig,... even with lipstick ( ). Now it is a mini-square bridge Mauser and ready to dance at the ball. I wanted to show this rifle because not all 'smiths are artisans; James Anderson of Newell, SD., formerly of Dakota Arms, is one, and a nice guy to work with also. I can recommend him highly and have contact info if you wish. I'd also be glad to answer any PMs concerning details if there should be any. Gdv

VERY Nice! Looks like I have to try & find a Left Hand Mini mauser now. I have (2) regular left hand actions, one is already turned into a custom 35 whelen, the other will be a 7x57, or 280 mountain rifle. I am interested in the details of your rifle. I will send you a PM Congrats on a very nice rifle. The CD actions do turn into nice customs. Especially when you consider the low initial cost. Congrats on a keeper

Oh man, I'm pumped! That turned out beautiful! The 3-position safety and new bolt handle make the rifle. Yes it belongs in the blue print section. MORE PICTURES PLEASE!!!!! When I started mine, the project was going to be a little more conservative. I ordered a GAG stock for it that got bypassed for a James Anderson stock. From the looks of yours it looks like I made a good choice! I still have this stock sitting in the closet with nothing for it. I ran across a deal the other day were I was able to trade a pistol for another mini mauser in 7.62X39. I'm going to do a cheaper version with it. Factory barrel, etc, but with the GAG stock. James will be starting on mine hopefully before the end of the year. After seeing yours it's going to be a longer wait now. Congratulations on a wonderful rifle, Terry

I didn't expect the number of PMs on this thus I'll just post the details here instead of answering each individually; hopefull it'll answer most of your questions. I'm Sorry Rick if I'm breaking with your original Blueprint thread. Fist of all, I omitted the checkering just for the budget's sake; if it had been a DGR I surely wouldn't have. The barrel is a Pacnor .224 Super match SS barrel, 23" long (1 in 12 and 3-groove); 1.2" just ahead of the receiver and .61" at the crown. The rifle with the Leupold 4.5-14 LR is right at 7.75 lbs. The safety is a reworked Dave Gentry 3-pos and the floor metal is custom miniX steel ($250 to answer one's question)-I didn't ask James where he got it. The trigger is a Timney Featherweight set at 2.5 lbs.; the bolt handle is custom as are the Talley bases (these needed revising for the receiver). The stock is AAA English walnut. The whole thing is pretty much what I envisioned a walk-about varminter would be for me. The action (moving parts) which originally was about as smooth as an Iowa corn cob was polished and all non-stainless parts rust blued then bead blasted. While I normally like my scope riding a little closer to the barrel, the mid-height Tallys and his bases provide nice access to the little loading/ejection port and yet with the fairly high comb the scope lines up well with my eye-no issue here with the minimum recoil involved. Mr. James R. Anderson who was prompt, communicative, and as pleasant as the best midwestern autumn day can be and can be reached at chico sdplains.com. Gdv

A couple more. My photography hardly does justice to the rifle so I tend to err on the side of wanting to post too many. Gdv

Nice job with that one. I would guess there are not going to be to many complaints with this one.

Those South Dakota praire dogs are in for trouble. I'm not sure I would let Terry M. use it. ddj
