I just won an auction on a Browning BPS Hunter Field (wood stock, blued metal) with a 3.5" chamber and 26" VR barrel, in as new condition. The research I did here as well as some other forums led me to believe this would be a solid all purpose shotgun (my first) that I could use for a while. Anybody have any thoughts on these?
Thanks & Go Ducks

The Browning PBS will play. I would not have much enthusiasm for 3.5in shells. But other than that a good pump gun.

My friend runs one, my father has 2 NIB but those are trade bait. They seem to be ok shotguns. When it comes to pumps, hard to do anything really wrong and compared to what is available - they are good performers.

buddy of mine had one. If he could not tear it up, they must be good.
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Had a 20GA field, that just kept on ticking. Great for grouse. Sold it cheap to a guy for his son's first shotgun.

BPS is a tough shotgun. I have a 12g 26" wood that we use a lot for dove, pheasant, and clays with field and light loads. Two 20g my kids started on early, they survived a lot of 'learners' over the years and do well.

They are very good guns, better than the Rem 870's IMO, I own both. I have a synthetic 26" vent rib if anyone is looking to buy one.

Use it.
I've hunted next to a friend using one many times. Only problem he ever had with it was when it was new and he suffered a brain lock on where the safety is located.
