OK, I want an AR before the election. My problem is, I live in the liberal/gun hating, state of NY, so my choices are limited to a gun with fixed stock, and a plain bbl. without attachments. I am considering a Colt MT6731, which is legal here, but I have a question about the weight. I have found several for sale, new and used, and some list the weight as 8.5lbs, while others, including the colt web site, list 7.1lbs.. I have looked at all of them, and can't find any other diferences. Can someone shed some light on this?
Also, I have the opportunity to get an LE6920 from a relative out of state for a VERY good price. Is it possible to change the folding stock to a fixed one, and to change the bbl to a plain one thus making it legal in NY? If this is possible, would the weight change much from the 5.9lbs.? I would really prefer to have a gun as light as possible.
Thanks,
