I have been the stoppER and the stopEE. I know enough to say that the best way to hands a traffic stop from either end is to adhere to the golden rule. I do my best to treat people the way I would like to be treated. I haven't always been successful.

No arguments here, except to add that you are way better off driving a properly maintained vehicle, staying within the posted speed limit, and not keeping illegal drugs and open alcoholic beverage containers in the car.

"He got weed! He got weed!" Yep, that's priceless. I also like the recap at the end: 1. Obey the law. 2. Use common sense. 3. Stop immediately. 4. Turn that sh$t off. 5. Be polite. 6. Shut the f$ck up. 7. Get a white friend. 8. Don't ride with a mad woman.

Be professional and kind to a professional and maybe you'll get treated that way, in return!!
Kind of the same thing in all matters of life!

Always make sure you are following a rabbit when going over the posted speed limit.

In nearly eighty years, I've had a good many experiences with cops so far, all of 'em good. Never been treated disrespectfully, for instance, even as a young squirt driving 'way too fast. Even had an arresting officer "go to bat" for me in court.
So I'm grateful to Barak and the others who've been so free of bias in showing me how little I know and have enlightened me as to how the world really is.

So I'm grateful to Barak and the others who've been so free of bias Sarcasm appreciated but unnecessary. I understand that my past experiences have biased me. I try to allow for it. There are times when I succeed. There are also other times...

I have always had good luck with cops also, but still think those clips were good. I usually try to be polite as possible to avoid a citation, but once asked to get out of the car or asked for my car to be searched, I guess the citation would already be in the bag, so no sense being polite.

Almost 9 times out of 10, when I stopped someone for a MV infraction, if they were polite (or even better, came up with a BS excuse I haven't heard yet) I would send them on their way with a verbal. Pretty simple.

I've been stopped 4 times. I was cited 3 of them. The fourth time was for a headlight that was out and I have the replacement and receipt that showed I had just bought it, and the cop was a female. My wife has never been cited. But she has been stopped twice as many times.
Life's not fair, but I'm the direct beneficiary to my wife's getting off. I'll still stick to the golden rule.

I know that there are bad cops out there. I just haven't had any of 'em give me a hard time. So I hate 'em without the bias that comes from first-hand experience.
If I had been hassled, for whatever reason good or bad, I suspect that my resulting attitude would derive in large part from whether I mentally acknowledged my own culpability in influencing the cop's attitude and behavior.

I've been pulled over eight or nine times and been given a warning every time, many times after being caught cold. I know it ain't my good looks so I must be doing something right.
