Mine was more accurate with 405's, but I found I shot it more when I stuck with 300gr "Cowboy" loads. I had a decellorator pad on it. I don't know that I would ever call it a plinking gun or describe it as pleasant to shoot. But, there is just something about pulling that big bore out once in a while.

for me none of the above. I've got a ported and non ported one.

the recoil issue for me is the middle finger getting slammed.


big loop lever helps the most with that, the only reason that the one still sports ports and standard lever is it's parkerized and i'm too cheap to have it refinished.

don't know what it is about it but I really like the parkerized finish.

the other is SS and needs to be bead blasted.

No porting, no adding weights, maybe a limbsaver. Lots of handling and shooting the gun - not from a bench. Get used to the rifle - it will not abuse you.

I have two GGs - 400gr. GS Custom FN @ 1750 fps. They work a lot.
