Bought my BL-22 in 1977 for $149.00 and a Redfield 2X7 widefield low profile for 179.00 at the same time. Scope and rifle have not been apart or ADJUSTED since. Squirrels gringe at the site of that combo ever since.

Thought I would update the info about Browning 22's. A couple of years ago I said here that I wanted a Browning Medalist 22 LR.

Guess what the wife surprised me with over the weeknd? God I love that woman. She got me the perfect one as well. Looks almost NIB except it is in the case complete with every accessory. Looks like a 63 model to me.

I may just have to call in sick tomorrow and try this one out.

I haven't had as good success as you guys...

My mom gave my dad a BL22 one year for Christmas in the 70's. So, when I was older I got to use it for squirrel hunting. Couldn't hit a coffee can at 20 yards with the thing. Dad couldn't either, just figured we were bad shots. So I used a .410 for all my shooting as a kid thereafter.

Fast forward 25 years...
Last year I took it, cleaned it up and did some real bench work with the gun from bags at 25 yards. Figured I was a much better shot now, so I was curious what it could do. I brought various ammo and wanted to see what the gun could do. Best 5 shot group at 25 yards ran 5" - no kidding. I handed it to a friend of mine to shoot, same thing.

I also dug out of his closet a much abused Marlin 81, marked JC Higgins that we never shot because it looked like a piece of crap. Same day, same bench, same ammo, bullets in the same hole.

I told my dad how well that gun shot and he chuckled 'take piece of junk'. I kept the Marlin and gave him the Browing back. I assume one day I'll inherit the BL22. Not sure if I should refinish it like I plan to with his other guns or give it to an enemy of mine.

I know, I got a bad one, but man, it sure couldn't be any worse.

You might check the crown at the end of the barrel and make sure it doesn't have a ding in it. That's the easiest quickest thing to look at out of those that can effect accuracy.

The trigger on my BL-22 breaks at 11 lbs. It is a new rifle I bought last year. Anybody know how to "fix" that trigger.

I have a BL-22 grade 2 thats been sitting in my safe for the last 15 yrs. I was wondering how old it was so I checked out the Browning site for info.

The problem is the serial number is not on the right side reciever like the site says. There is a number under the reciever but it doesnt look like described on the Browning site. The number stamped underneath is 71B39441. Does anyone know how old this gun is?

Back in the mid 70's, I bought a BL-22 Grade II for my wife. It had a 4x32 Browning presentation scope in presentation scope rings. I think I gave about $250 for the whole sheebang. It would shoot bug holes.

When she left, she asked for the rifle. It was hers, so I gave it to her. Offered to buy it for more than I paid for it, but she wouldn't hear of it. Turns out within the year, she sold it to her alcoholic uncle for $50 and he sold it to someone for $100 and got drunk for a couple days.

Thinking I'll buy one for my younger daughter. She's 20 and loves John Wayne type rifles.
