Buddy just bought this in oxford color for ice fishing. The quality is great but it's pretty damn heavy for your intended purpose.
You can always get 20% off coupon codes for STP to bring the price down quite a bit.

To the op, I got a Marmot 8000 meter parka and it seems like a pretty good Parka. I haven't had a chance to wring it out yet, we just haven't had any really cold weather yet this winter.
The real question that nobody seemed to ask is exactly what are you going to use it for? How physically active you are has a huge impact on what type of clothing systems work best.
I got my parka to stay warm when belaying my partner while ice climbing, then I'll shed it while climbing. Clothing requirements while passive are hugely different then when you are active.
I don't know why I never thought about getting a decent down parka before. They provide tremendous warmth to weight, and can be compressed fairly well.

Rab also make some very top of the line down products. http://www.rab.uk.com/products_down.htmlAnd VBL's do work in the real world. Those climbing Everest, Denali etc aren't from Madison Avenue. There are many of us on this board that have been using the state of the art climbing gear for backpack hunting. It does work!
