I'm looking for someone who can rethread my remington barrel to savage threads. I emailed switchbarrel.com but never heard back.
is there anyone here who does it, or knows someone?

I tried to get a 260 barrel rethreaded for my Savage,the stub doesn't fit,they are a bit bigger ,but not nearly enough to clean up the Remington threads.It would be sweet if you could,there always Remington barrels for sale.Shilen and Douglas sell pre chambered Savage barrels. if you look on www.switchbarrel.com they advertise remington barrels rethreaded to savage. the one I want to do is a former sendero barrel.

I saw that,too,that why I bought a new take off light contoured SS 260.He would have had to restub and rechamber,which wasn't possible on that contour.If Savage had used the same thread pitch,one could just cut the threads deeper.

It is possible to sleeve the tenon then thread the sleeve but it's enough work that you have to want to do it. In the case of a Remington to savage, I would turn the tenon and thread it 15/16x 24tpi then thread the sleeve to fit that. The sleeve is then turned to the required OD (1 1/16 or 1 1/8 depending on the vintage of the Savage) and threaded to fit. The sleeve is installed with loc tite or epoxy (your choice) or it can even be soldered.GD
