It also should be noted that while the consistency is similar, it is not an acceptable substitute for Vaseline in certain applications. Now just what would those be??

It's great for rubbing under a pack mule's nose just before loading a dead bear. Was on a river trip with two docs that were on contract with a major Florida metro county (Dade?)to do coroner work. They never went out to do a retrieval (so they said) without a new bottle of vicks. They put it all over the nose etc under their masks. Probably cover the scent of about anything. Sycamore
...Actually Sycamore, you are sort of right....

I resemble that remark too! you know what they say, what don't kill you only makes you stronger well at the end of this ride, if the devil owns me, it may be uncomfortable on big Jim, but the twins.....naaaaah "you call this hot? heck this ain't hot"

I don't think so. Too many people must have applied it to their nads and marked it off the grocery list. A company can only light up so many peters before their market share turns ta chit.

Vick's is still being produced. And most of the national pharmacies have their own version of it also.

Had a good friend of the family back in the '50s wind up in the hospital trying to cure hemmoroids with the vapors off Euclyiptus leaves. Fella told him to boil some leaves in a 1 pound coffee can and squat down over the fumes. Well all went according to plan and when Bud squated down to get them fumes working 2 very important things went splash in the water. He wound up in the emergency room with most folks having a silly grin on their faces. Now that will get you going!

Years ago my Dad gave me a box of reloading stuff and in there was a jar of Vick's. I had to laugh - Dad was proud of his improvisational skills so I figure the Vick's makes an acceptable bullet lube.

Speaking of crotch salves....or NOT salves. The rule needs to mentioned that if it doesn't belong in the eyes it probably shouldn't get near the crotch either.......wash before going to the bathroom when handling hot peppers, paint strippers (MEK type), etc etc. (I know these things, but I learned fast.)
And yes, Absorbine Junior is very much alive and well - in rural Alaska anyway. Works great on bug bites, etc.

What was he conned into next, accupunture with roofing nails?

Absorbine Jr. flies off the shelves around here when the gnats come out. Does seem to work as a repellent.

He was an Ice cream sales man. Drove a little Foremost truck all over. Most folks knew him. They would always grin at him.

I can't say for sure,.. having never tried it,.. but I would strongly suspect that the dogs prefer the dog pekker gnats to a dose of Absorbine Junior to eliminate them. In fact,... if anyone is planning to apply Absorbine Junior to their dog's nether regions,..I'd like to know in advance so I can sell tickets. Times are hard,.. but there will always be a paying audience to watch someone get mauled because he applied Absorbine Junior to a Black & Tan's pink thing. ,...guarenteed,....

Never seen anyone attempt to apply it to dog peckers, or human ones for that matter. It does create an interesting picture though.
