Next season buddy, I won't miss another moose season.

I was busy at the deer camp on the weekends this year building a 12X24 addition on it instead of moose hunting.

If you want to go with a heavier bullet than 165 grains, look at the 180 round nosed ones. They are short enough to fit in your magazine without losing powder space by seating them too deeply. At the range you are shooting at, you aren't going to lose anything ballistically speaking by going with the round nose. And you will likely gain a bit on penetration and knock down power. I have not hunted moose, but I wouldn't feel under gunned with my 99 in .300 Savage. They have been killing all kinds of critters with it for nearly 90 years. And for several decades, it was THE deer and other big game cartridge in North America. Generations of hunters can't be wrong. Be sure to take some pictures.

That's a good idea, and just using a 170gr round-nose 30-30 bullet ain't a bad idea either.

How about the 170 grain Nosler Partition round nose? Should be able to drive that to at least 2500. I bet it would whack something.

Well, I came here for the advice of experts! I first need to score a lottery draw, but...if I do, it has become crystal to me that a .300 Savage will wack any thing in the woods in North America! Including some of the Alaskan critters! Hand rolled properly, I am sure it could wack Iraqi's, Afghans, Syrians, Paki's and any other thing that threatens us! The Savage is truly timeless! I just want to be armed properly for a moose! No questions about a New England whitetail...They are dead!
