Do you guys disassemble the guns or just use a spray cleaner?

What do you use to lube, spray silicone, light grease, ????

And how sparingly to avoid gumming up? Wondering if it's good or bad to run a Marlin 'dry' or minimal lube.

Thanks for sharing experience.

I don't take 'em apart, except for the Marlin 39A. I use G96 Gun Treatment for cleaning, lubrication, and protection. It's the best stuff that I've used. It's in a spray-can, and a little bit goes a long ways. I order it from Bass Pro, but there may be other places to get it.

I clean from the back end so the lever and bolt must be removed (very simple). I used Breakfree, spareingly.

J, I'll try digging up my manual to see if there are instructions in basic disassembly. May can look at it and do it, never gave much thought.

Thanks guys, looks like a little lube goes a long way which is what I figured.

Bolt removal is easy. Open the action half way and remove the lever pivot screw. Remove the lever and the bolt slides out, to the back over the hammer. HOWEVER, the little case ejector fall out, too! Its located on the left rear side. You will note three holes there, two should have screws for the receiver sight and the third is the little pin that holds the ejector in place when the bolt is in the gun. Remove bolt and ejector fall out. It's simple once you are aware of it but let the unknowing BEWARE.

The 1894 in 44 magnum that I have, take the screw out of the lever, remove lever, bolt, ejector from side of receiver, wipe off the water if its rained, Rem Oil or now Slip2000 (great stuff) wipe the water out of the barrel, wipe it down with a lightly oiled rag. I have not really cleaned the barrel yet regards fouling, does not seem to need it.

Thanks all, Stetson, appreciate the links sir.

Had thought of selling this rifle, but they really grow on you the more you carry them, shoot them and hunt with them. I'd like to take my woods deer with them, saving the larger stuff for longer open range shots. And then there are a couple of 41's I need to get properly 'bloodied' in the woods also.

Thanks. Now tuning the trigger, that is something VERY in need as the rifle shoots better than the factory trigger will consistently allow.

It's really very easy. The instructions from Marauder had my '94 44 mag ticking like a champ. smile

Jimmy, I'll consider it, right now I have the rifle, peep and talley base/rings, package $600 shipped might talk me out of it.

Has some nice wood to boot. Too many projects, too little time...to shoot them all.
