Thanks for your post, Wolf. I am afeared that the One And Only is only a troll. Well...I hope he is. If he's real, that'd be scary.

Hello,Interesting,I got my AR for Christmas too......hmmmmmmmm.Oh,well.You said there were wealthy kids in 'Nam but isn't it true that if you went to collage you couldn't get drafted? So wouldn't the richer kids try to so they wouldn't get drafted ?Thats what I heard.

College would not necessarly keep you out, you had to apply for an exemption. 'Sides Nam lasted longer than most degree programs, just meant you MIGHT be officer material.

All,

I take issue with some of the comments. First, nowhere was it said the wealthiest didn't serve, only I don't recall serving with any. Second , by the late 60s early 70s the chances of a National Guard unit being called into active duty would've been almost impossible for several reasons , but most important they were already starting to scale back. For example. some guys were allowed to add time to their tour and receive what was called an "early out". Meaning if there was five months or less on their two years, they would be honorable discharge upon returning home.

To change the subject a minute, I'm starting to wonder why the term "Christmas" or someone having brown eyes would have to do with anything in this discussion other than being a bigot ( raises ) or Jewish. If this web site represents some kind of ethnic background other than Christian, it would be nice to know what it is ?

Actually, I've taken pride in the fact of never having any kind of addiction ,drugs, alcohol or otherwise and earlier mentioned smoking pot was never part of my lifestyle. However, that doesn't mean I haven't smoked some and to coin an old phrase , "I did inhale" . The fact is , not until entering the military did I personally never knew anyone that did drugs and can count on one hand how many times I have. Once before leaving for Vietnam, twice while there and two times since returning home.Although I do smoke cigarettes.

All,

Why is it that some of you take issue with things I've written, then privately send messages and want to hash things out? In all honesty, I've never come across something so immature, especially considering you (private messengers) openly attacked without just reason. Maybe a better approach would be setting back and listening before opening your mouth. Nowhere in this discussion have I said everyone needs to agree with my opinions, only that I've paid my dues to be entitled them.

What a load of bunk! You are not an innocent victim here. Just about whenever you open your mouth (figuratively speaking), you either outright state, or unmistakably suggest, that while you are entitled to express opinions, most other people are not. You, sir, are a classic blowhard, and more than deserved the kind of treatment you've received here.

I invited you to a private discussion to see if you were man enough. A great litmus test for folks that spout off in a public forum is finding out how they react in private. You failed.

Your opinion doesnt matter to me facts do. You have continually misrepresented the facts and Im more than happy to point that out. You have graciously admitted to some of these mistakes, but for some reason have ignored being corrected on weapon types, buying procedures, and a number of other topics.

In other words, what you claim to be an opinion is a cluster of mistakes, misrepresentations, and hogwash. Some might call you a liar, but I wont. You seem like a reasonably intelligent fellow that is simply echoing the mantra of the gun control crowd without stopping to check the facts nobody is entitled to that.

Forgive me my nonsense, as I also forgive the nonsense of those that think they talk sense.

And Dannyboy, err Larry, is great at ignoring his original topic, and likes to sidetrack on BS. Like that Christmas thing....Larry (Danny?) can you focus on one thing at a time?

Hello! This is Jagoffs son and I am 13 years old.I HAVE A ASSAULT WEAPON!!!I HAVE THE EVIL AR15!

Thanks for posting.

But what I'm sure you meant to say was that you're 13 years old and your father has an AR-15, which he lets you shoot under his direct adult supervision when he deems it appropriate. Maybe he, having other guns himself, rarely if ever gets around to shooting that particular AR-15 himself. Perhaps you also meant to say that you suspect that when you turn 18, he may give the gun to you as a gift.

I'm sure you meant to say this because it's a federal offense for anyone, even your father, to give or sell a firearm to someone under 18. I don't know the penalty offhand, but the standard penalty for most federal firearms offenses is 10yr/$10,000 per count.

That's why I'm sure he didn't actually give it to you. Committing a federal felony, bragging about it on the Internet, and signing it with your real name, I think, would simply be too silly a thing for JAGOFF to let you do. I'm sure that if anyone wearing a uniform (or not, for that matter) were to point at that AR-15 and ask you, "Whose gun is that?" you would immediately respond, "My dad's."

Ditto !!! what Barak wrote. There's not only a daylight-and-dark difference, but a worlds apart difference between the freedom we enjoyed when I received my first handgun, then .22 rifle, in 1949 and 1950, and today, when, for all practical purposes, Second Amendment Rights ( and many others) have been destroyed by the Marxist Socialist inspried do-right-daddies-and-mommies who work assiduously to be our Lords & Masters..

Had the KGBATF laws been in place when I was a kid, virtually all the boys in town and almost all the parents would have been hauled off to a Federal prison.

But, I do have great memories of fine times, long ago....

leanwolf, He won't be going out alone with the rifle, and of course, if he don't keep his grades up he won't have the rifle anymore, you can take that to the bank, but somebody did get the rifle for christmas. J

Barak, you've got to be kidding me. That's one of the oldest and best established traditions in America, i.e. when a boy gets his first rifle (usually before age ten). I don't remember anyone getting up in arms about this when it was being debated. Hell, I don't even remember it being debated, let alone being passed into law. Certainly something which reverses such a cherished tradition (a rite of passage, even) in the United States could not become law without a huge uproar. Are you sure of your facts?

It may not exactuly be law, but if a couple of boys were to walk down a country raod with their .22's today, like I did as a kid.................Probaly a full SWAT response and maybe even an airstrike! The panty wetters would be in a PANIC.

Well, the answer, then, is to have all the boys do this, and do it often. Let the SWAT teams make fools of themselves enough, and maybe the insanity will stop. We lose rights when enough of us stop exercising them openly.
