I live in Fort Payne, but the old family homestead is in Valley Head at the foot of the mountain just below Mentone. We have had a little luck with the sierra flat base but it's about the only one, can't remember it it was a 52 or 53, which ever is a FBHP, I worked with the Burger for a couple of months and about 300 bullets but only came up with one load that would satisfy my standards. I wouldn't' accept a load that wouldn't do well under 1/2" at 100 yds in my 223 and going to be picker than that with this new 308. Did you come down for the old June Jams?

I plan on trying some out this summer and from most of what I read and the people I talk to 55 would be the lightest bullet I would want to attempt to use the Varget with. It gave me some pretty good accuracy in a 225AI last year with the 55 varmint nightmares with some real good velocities. Going to try it out in my 308 this week end. Appears to work well in a lot of different calibers.

Try 26.5 grains of winchester 748 with the hornady 40gr V-Max. This is what I shoot in my Rem 700 BDL Varmint rifle. It will shoot 1/4 inch when I do my part. Last year the first 100rd. I shot 75 dogs with the round out to 300yds plus. Hope this helps

I have used 24.5 or RL7 behind the 40 V-Max for the last couple years. It shoots in the 3's in both my XR-100 and my custom 700.

I would still be shooting AA2200 if I could find any.
