I have been wanting a B for some time. The combo of the 26" octagon barrel and crescent butt where things I wanted in a 303 savage to hunt with. Its my first 303 and Steve has ammo on the way smile

Gary - nice rifle! As far as taking it hunting, I sure wouldn't. No, not the usual debate about whether to take nice rifles in the woods. I wouldn't hunt it because for me, a cresent butt rifle has about the worst handling and pointability of any rifle out there. However, between Savage, Winchesters, Marlins and others, I have a goodly number of rifles with cresent butts. Lucky I am a collector wink

Boltman I disagree, for me personally it is just a matter of how you anchor the butt, believe me you gotta remeber that you are shooting something with a crescent, but if you keep your wits about you you should have no problem. On the other hand if you snap shoot something with light clothes on you are in for a world of hurt if you catch a bad anchor. It all depends on being ready mentally.

Even when I have plenty of time to shoulder the rifle, it just fits me wrong when I am sighting down the barrel. Feels very unnatural. I love shotgun butts for shooting and hunting smile

I've seen some guys that the crescent buttplate just would never fit well, but personally I have no problem with them. I love the 26" barrels and how steady they are to shoot offhand.

I have a 99A that hurts to shoot from the bench but comes up ok. This rifle seems to come up nice but I havnt tryed it with hunting cloths on. Seems that a rifle of this weight, with a round that must recoil about like a 30-30, should be Just fine.

Cant wait to find out!!
