I have never met a more gloom laden bunch of "sky is falling" prognosticators than that group here you mention.

The United States, and our brothers to the north, have proven time and time again to be the most resourceful, inventive, adaptive and forward looking group to ever inhabit this globe. What would you have me do? Point out the increase in our debt since 1987? Point out the devaluation of the currency by the Fed since 1913? Recite the incursions our Federal Government has made into the private sector over the last decade-he!! over the last year?!

I think I've done all of that before, but some want the status quo to remain because they think that they gain from the current system. I think you'll find in the end that it will implode of it's own weight, and that right soon.

How long do you think that the debt and deficit spending levels can be maintained before they collapse? Personally, I think you'll get to see 1987 pricing of the Dow and the S&P 500 much sooner than you anticipate.

Not really anything, but I also acknowledge that there is darn little I can do to control the federal government budget nor can I influence my legislatures so I simply assume control of what I can and it's working out OK for me. Certainly complaining on the campfire and saying we should destroy the government or model it and the nations behavior along RP ideals is not going to happen, nor do I agree with his advocates who say we need not worry or act on threats beyond the 12 mile limit. I control what I can control.

come on Bob, proof has been offered again and again, that indicates with fair accuracy, you cannot have a meaningful conversation with that group about anything political.

honestly isaac, i think that there has been too much tendency to foucus on the negatives in life.

sadly, i saw this in an allstate comercial.

when the economy takes a tumble as it has many times since the great depression, people learn one fundamental truth. that is to appreciate the small things in life.

the more we appreciate the small things, the less painful the outside world seems. at least thats the take of this 24 year old. take it or leave it.

You can see the beginning of the problem back in 1971 when Nixon pulled the dollar completely free from gold. You can see the little blip from Y2K, which seemed so huge at the time. You can see the blip from 9/11, which looked even bigger at the time. Then there's what they've done recently, in which the State has created out of thin air in just the past couple of months as much money as it's created since the birth of the Fed in 1913.

In view of stuff like this, the old "We'll be okay because we've always been okay" saw isn't so convincing anymore. There's no precedent for this.

There's over 200 money charts, depending upon what you wish to believe in.

Look at my numbers above in regards post 87 and defeat that straight up honesty.

I have a chart that says my wife's and my combined incomes are 14K too.

What planet are you from, pal??? You obviously have such a twisted mind that you think left is right, and up is down. A leftist is someone who seeks to increase the power of central government, and divest citizens of local control of the laws under which they live. That sounds like the Bush brand "Republican" to me, i.e., you, Isaac, and your ilk.

We conservatives, on the other hand, represent the right, i.e., smaller central government and decentralization of power, returning government to the people at the local level, while restoring the Constitutional limits on the central government. That's right wing.

It's really not that complicated. Try to learn your left from your right before you make a fool of yourself on a public forum.

Bob and Allen,No doubt that things will find their own level and balance out. Was never afraid to get get dirt under my nails when I had to and if and when the SHTF will hold that trait and push forward.

However the credit crunch has affected the company I work for to a point that although production is down a mere 3% net revenue is down 30% due to the SNAFU on wall street. Scary for the blue collar worker.
