Trying to get even pressure epoxy gluing recoil pad has been dificult. Used a piece of wood & bungee cord, with small nails
to keep it moving while it dries. Simple but effective.

3 Rimrock blanks I converted to the correct side have RH cheekpieces, wanted to remove them but to much work.

Ted,
Give a call when you here. How long will you be in town. Perhaps lunch is in order. --- Mel

I like the stock and am LH, rifles are LH so converted them to LH. Rimrock stock are foam core so removal of the cheekpiece would require a lot of work to build outer base then float it out. When you shoot it LH or carry it cheekpiece is not a problem.

I'm a little more simple in my "clamp".

I line the edge of the stock with electricians tape and coat it with a release agent. Then I set the stock in a bench vice (padded), with the butt stock pointing straight up. Apply epoxy to the stock and flip flop, put the flip flop on the stock, and then balance several heavy books on top of the flip flop. Gently wipe any excess epoxy that runs out off of the electricians tape.

Being upside down like this keeps the epoxy from running into the pad as much and the books make a nice even pressure. Take it down the next day and use an orbital sander to even the edges. The electricans tape is still on it and keeps the sander from scratching the stock. Final edges of the pad are finished with sandpaper and a small piece of wood. When it's nice and even remove the electrican's tape.

It's worked well for every stock I've finished and has held up well.

Oh, forgot to mention, cheap chinese import places like Harbor Freight etc carry really long clamps for such jobs, less than 10.00
