about 4k ea. wow

Democracy is not freedom. Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to eat for lunch. Freedom comes from the recognition of certain rights which may not be taken, not even by a 99% vote.

I saw a movie where only the military and the police had guns. It was called Schindler's List.

Steely, speaking of mannlichers, why in the world did you get rid of the Ruger in 250? Played with it recently. Love it.

So he basically has a collection of non-collectable rifles! The M70 is mildly collectable only to the most advanced M70 collector who would want one just because it's an odd variation, not because it's really desirable.

Pretty rifles. Can't recall if I've ever seen a full stocked M70 before.

To be fair, he is including 20-some scopes and three safes. Granted, scoes aren't much "added value", unless there are some collectibles in that group, and he doesn't give details on the safes, so who knows what kind and size, or what they're worth.

And prices on old M70's are going nowhere but up.

I still think his price is high, and finding ONE buyer willing to part with that much money on one transaction is going to be tough, but maybe he's not as totally unrealistic as the first sticker shock upon seeing that price would make us believe.

I've got a buddy that at last count had something like 37 pre-64 M70's, and a dozen or so M52's. He's pushing 70 years old and has been picking them up one at a time for many, many years. The lovers of old Winchesters can catch it bad....

Myself, I'd be parting the collection out, and hoping to find guys willing to buy a set of four, one in each caliber, rather than one huge hit.

I can buy a whole armory full of rifles I want to use for $164K.
Something about spending a pile of cash for a bunch of nice looking rifles to sit all day and stare isn't who I am.

Myself, if I was sitting on a spare, liquid $164,000, I'd be buying a nice chunk of land to hunt on, and doing it with just a few rifles.

Fairly rare to find a collection of 4 Bianchi Cobra slings. Just may be what seals the deal...

Funny how we rationalize stuff!

I do that all the time when looking at stuff (usually something my wife just bought!)... "That could be two rifles", "That's a case of ammo", "I could make a nice hunt on that", etc.

Not being a beer drinker though, I've never broken it down to six packs! laugh
