About five states require that all tents sold in their boundaries be fire resistant treated. Look for notes referring to CAPI-84 standards, which is California's. This is what you experienced with the flame test. I would make sure I was dealing with fire retardant material, or use a treated tent as a starting point, or it might indeed go "POOF".
Come to think of it I don't do much that meets "California's standards".

Hey guys,
I just finished up with my version 2 wood stove with a ti pipe and made a few modifications to the GoLite and have a total weight of 2 lbs 12 oz for shelter and stove.
I will try to get some pictures posted on Tuesday.
