So you think 100 shots with a cloth patch going down is going to smooth out a gun barrel?
If you really like something, you better buy two!

First of all the barrels marketed these days don't need any "smoothing out". There is nothing in there that will damage the patch or effect insertion of the patch and ball. If there is, Flitz isn't going to fix it. Breaking in the bore by shooting it will accomplish the goal of working up a load for accuracy.
I know what you are doing with that Flitz. It will change the internal ballistics of the bore. It will require adjusting patch, ball, charge and lube combinations. It won't improve anything. It will just be different that it was before.

flitz is not abbrasive like jb bore past. The only way you can really polish a rough bore is by using steelwool wrapped around a cleaning jag and taking a couple hundred passes. Ive done every muzzle loader i own with it.

i have used the 0000 steel wool and JB on a few barrels and seen great improvements in accuratcy. my hunterbolt went from 2 1/2in 100yd grps to cutting holes. DOC, WITH POWERBELTS TO.i had to throw that in.

That you had improvement is what counts. In my opinion the lead bullets and sabots "DO NOT" provide enough friction to smooth out any barrel, it has to be done by hand.

if the bore is rough, all a lead bullet is going to do is build up lead in that part of the bore. You'd have to shoot some mightly hard lead to smooth it out.

Run about a dozen Hornady Great Plains bullets doped up with Mother's Mag Wheel Polish, and half charges of powder.
Then clean it up real well and treat with UBC.
More than one way to skin a cat.....
