A buddy was at the CMP shop at Camp Perry late last week & picked up the last of their LC '06 ammo. Last year they predicted their inventory would last 3 years.
I sincerely hope that supplies "normalize" over the course of the year.

Imagine your grave on a windy winter night. You've been dead for 70 years.
It's been 50 since a visitor last paused at your tombstone.....
Now explain why you're in a pissy mood today.

"Even with the increases in the last month anyone here honestly believe ammunition will by and large get cheaper in the future?"

Actually it's possible in the short-mid term. Lead and copper prices have plummeted in the last year to 1/3 what they were in 2007-1st QTR 2008. The only thing keeping the prices high is the increased demand of the last 6 months. If demand dies down this summer and Congress doesn't pick up any legislation that sends people into panic mode again, there may be a window where prices drop.

This whole business is just nuts.

It's not like we're mobilized and fighting major battles, like WW II. And what's with all the sudden ammo demand by law enforcement? Most local govts. are in a constant penny pinching mode, and I would think especially so nowadays. Many depts. can barely afford enough practice to stay certified, or to satisfy insurance requirements.

My uncle works at the Remington ammo plant here in AR. He told me that the shipping department just had their first day on last month since Thanksgiving. He said they are producing 2.2 million rounds a day, and it goes out the door as fast as they can make it. He said that .223, .308, .45, 9mm and 40 S&W ammunition is they hot thing right now. He claims he can get any thing else just not those five at this time. He also told me they went from laying people off before the election, to hiring over double the amount laid off once the election was over. They are running at full capacity, but he has mentioned nothing about them adding machinary to produce more.

Since we loonies are the bright spot in an otherwise dismal economic environment, maybe the Dems will see fit to keep their grubby paws to themselves for awhile. Just dreamin' here....

That's pretty awesome. That's the answer to not adding capitol equipment; overtime and second shifts.
Hope the employees don't get burned out.
