Prior to Sako's development of the L61R action, they did use F.N. Mauser actions upon Factory rifles from 1950-57.

Had never heard a mention,to their having crafted 98 receivers and the above do jive nicely.

It was termed the Sako Magnum Mauser Rifle. All courtesy of de Haas ala Bolt Action Rifles(Revised Edition),pg 404.

Receiver is clean of markings. Barrel has some proof marks, SAKO, made in Finland, chambering.

I've only got my CrackBerry on hand for photos, pretty poor picture taker.

Thanks for the info. It is, action wise, a near double to my FN Mauser in "ol boring"

Man feet are marginally acceptable in your own home. Now if you was visiting...

300H&H was mentioned as a chambering, less mention of the 300Winny...due "likely" to it being introduced 6yrs after Sako went to their own action.(grin)

Was thinking you'd mention 300Win Mag,for some reason?

I didn't really clarify when I was talking about "old enough" to have the s/n on the barrel and it being old enough to be marked ".300 Magnum" That would cause some considerable confusion nowadays.

That round will likely die, but it does have its merits.

That would have flown up until the release of the Ultra, no?

I hear great things about those rifles. The one in question here, no doubt the chambering helps, is smooooth. Empty cases chamber as smoothly as live rounds.

I see no flies on the 17Mach2, I love my cheapo NEF sportster in it. Kills blackbirds like a lazer of death.

I don't see any flies on it either, but folks seem to have stayed away in droves.
