Your are still dodging, TryMe, but the gem of your post (if I'm deciphering your mangled English correctly) is that your load exceeds the mag length of a M700.

Wouldn't you know it, that's exactly what you all pounded on the load I provided for doing!

Will wonders never cease.

So TryMe, just how far over 2.85 IS your load?

And how far over book max is the powder charge?

"Larry's Imaginary Load". It has a certain ring to it.

.308 hangs right with, or EXCEEDS the 7-08 and I've proved it. But feel free to keep digging, TryMe.

When against the ropes and outta guesses, she copy/pastes with aplomb...if only to reiterate the throes of stupidity.

That despite the particulars being crystal clear, cited in black and white, while being beyond refute.

Know-fu soundly trumps Guess-fu...which is another Window lickin' bane,of the Airsoft Crowd.

The Nosler Loading Guide list a load of RL 15 at 39 grains for a 160 grain bullet at 2,593 fps.

Nosler I have found is pretty right on the numbers for
saami max that they list.

I am going off memory but I believe the 708 is at 62,000 psi rating. That being so you could add a grain of powder bring it up to 65K to add another 40 to 50 feet per second.

Add to the fact a slick moly bulet, then add another grain or so of powder and your right at the max for bullet seating into the powder (which btw I've found Remington boxes maxing at 2.830 COAL and no more) and it reaching right at 2,700 fps.

So yeah, it's probably doable.

My guesstimator says Tryme is loading 41 to 41.5 grains of RL 15 to
get at 2,700 fps. His pressure is probably in the ball park of
65k to 67K. The ogive of the Amax works for him being more nose than body contact to the lands.

That said,

I would never use it out outside of Sitka and Coues deer.

I would rather use the 308 for elk, bear, and large mule deer.

Nosler also cites a 2780fps Re-19 load...all via their long bearing surface offerings and nose forward long ogives(which require deeper seating). At 2.800".

Honestly,I can only think of a whole buncha B&C Bears stuffed within the Book via 7-08. None of them players gun a 308 instead, despite the gross familiarity.

Pun intended.

Whether 600,700 or Seven...that dog WILL always Hunt as per F/F within the issued magbox(or DBM).

However, depending upon boolit profile, one may or may not be in the rifling ala that cited COAL. Via Remmie SAAMI 7-08 and a 162?

You are but .020" shy.

Nosler is using a 26" Wiseman barrel. So subtract a solid 100 fps, minimum, just going to a 22" tube. Plus, I have rarely found noslers numbers to be attainable anyway- even WITH a 26" tube, as with my 338 WM or 300 WM. So, in reality subtract another 50 fps or so to account for that.

TryMe's load, at BEST, is a fast-barrel, over-pressure, over-mag-length load. I won't even say what I think it us, at worst.

I'd sure like to know TryMe's COAL and powder charge, but he's skeered to share 'em.

Shane's load, btw, clocks 2580 fps from a 20.5" tube... And he wasn't afraid to post his load...

Nosler is always SOFT.

For conversation,SPEER 12 denotes their 175 FB's at 2628fps ala 24" 7-08...with even MORE bearing surface.

You're 7-08 Guess-Fu is ugly,though commensurate.

Oddly enough,SPEER cites the 175's at being less than 52,000 CUP's,which correlates to their 308Win 22" data and 200gr 2416fps best case scenario(bolt guns all).

I'd reckon 8grs of boolit weight to equal 2" of tube length,at like pressure.

Hint.

Load a moly 162 Amax at 2.830 COAL with 41.5 grains of RL 15 and you'll be there.

Except Moly is a joke. Its another gimmick. Lots of dumbasses bought into its magic properties in the mid to late 90's. You show me a Master class Highpower shooter thats running moly today, and I'll show you some bullschitt you made up

Though my shooting fund is currently depleted, due to snatching extras of the stuff I need cause of the component shortage, I STILL stand ready to waste $50 trying a load I really have no interest in using. That's just how I roll; I like to try stuff.

Though, my interest is waning as the Cowardly Lion continues to weasel and dodge, making his imaginary load seem awfully... Imaginary.

Still, I'll order 'em right frikkin' now if the Lion will just man up and back up what he's been saying.

Hint: there's a couple big reasons he's dodging this one...

Hornady shows the 162 @2700+ coa

Hornady shows 2700 plus for the 162 C.O.L. 2.755 using H 414 in a 24" barrel.
